Our Process Specialists oversee and coordinate the technical aspects of our manufacturing process to ensure the efficient and high-quality production of OSB. We're hiring a Process Specialist for a 12-18 Month Term at our Athabasca OSB Division in Slave Lake, Alberta. This state-of-the-art facility has the longest continuous press in North America, giving us the ability to manufacture a broad range of innovative forest products for customers around the world.
Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in an engineering, science, or technical related discipline is considered a strong asset.
- 5+ years of experience in a technical related role within the OSB or manufacturing environments.
- General knowledge of industry standards and best practices in OSB manufacturing or related wood processing industries.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 17025.
- Experience in laboratory operations supervision within an industrial manufacturing environment, specifically in a quality assurance/quality control function.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in technical documentation and reporting.
- Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., Minitab, SPSS) and techniques such as control charts, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and design of experiments (DOE) desired.

In this role, you will:
- Develop, implement, maintain and monitor quality management systems to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with quality assurance establishing and monitoring program quality checks, testing, and data collection to ensure compliance with standards for all products produced in the plant, as well as conformity of all incoming raw materials.
- Oversee laboratory operations, including the setup, maintenance, and calibration of testing equipment to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Ensure all process and laboratory testing equipment is regularly calibrated and maintained according to manufacturer specifications and industry standards.
- Lead and participate in all process and product improvement initiatives and new product development.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process issues to minimize downtime and enhance production efficiency.
- Conduct regular reviews and reports to update stakeholders on quality metrics, laboratory performance, and equipment status.
- Collaborate on all aspects with compliance and ensure all technical activities comply with internal, external and customer standards.
- Provide training and support to staff on quality management systems, laboratory procedures, and equipment use and maintenance.

- You'll earn an additional prairie location payment on top of your base pay.
