About The Role

ALS is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our global legal team, based in North Vancouver, Canada. In this high-visibility role, you will partner with business leaders across North America, advising on commercial transactions, governance, compliance, and disputes — while also supporting ALS’ innovation and transformation initiatives.

About The Role

ALS is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join our global legal team, based in North Vancouver, Canada. In this high-visibility role, you will partner with business leaders across North America, advising on commercial transactions, governance, compliance, and disputes — while also supporting ALS’ innovation and transformation initiatives.
What you’ll do
- Draft, review, and negotiate complex commercial contracts.
- Support corporate transactions, M&A, and due diligence.
- Advise on corporate governance, entity management, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage disputes, claims, and litigation with external counsel where appropriate.
- Partner with the business to reduce risk and drive performance.
- Contribute legal support to cross-functional projects, including cutting edge initiatives involving innovation, technology, and governance of data and AI.
- Qualified lawyer, admitted to practice, with 7+ years of post-admission experience as a practicing lawyer.
- At least 4 years’ experience as an in-house legal counsel in a corporate role, preferably within a multinational.
- Fluent in English.
- Strong expertise in contract law, commercial transactions, and exposure to M&A transactions and integration projects.
- Experience in corporate governance, including drafting corporate resolutions, and dealing with corporate registries.
- Practical experience resolving disputes and advising on risk mitigation strategies.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts for non-lawyers.
Physical Demands
- Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities;
- Be available to work outside normal business hours when required;
- Ability to use and view a computer screen for up to 8 hours per day;
- Ability to communicate in various electronic formats including email, video conference and phone;
- An estimated annual salary ranging from $160,000 - $180,000 at the time of posting. Individual compensation is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education and/or training.
