Analyst, Agriculture Banking – Canadian Commercial Banking

Purpose

The Client Solutions Analyst, Agriculture position contributes to the overall success of the National Agriculture Strategy in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives, ensuring all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

This role will support the Agriculture team through the collection, processing and assimilation of customer reporting information (interim and annual) while providing administrative support and service.

This role will report primarily to the Market Vice President, Agriculture Banking Specialist Team.

  • All locations across Canada can be considered.

Accountabilities

Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

Analysis of client data to identify insights on strategic and operational analytics:

  • Assist the business unit with developing enhanced reporting and determining the components and scope of work required to satisfy requirements
  • Co-ordinate and centralize reporting and when possible automate reporting to increase efficiency
  • Performing ad-hoc analysis when necessary to provide insight to various business issues/trends.

Provides Analytics Support For Key Projects

  • Provide key performance indicator reporting and trending for success measurement
  • Support new initiatives by participating as a project resource and providing data requirements to help various stakeholders
  • Develop enhanced reporting and determining the components and scope of work required to satisfy requests

Communications

  • Build effective working relationships within the team and with various business lines
  • Participate and contribute to team meeting and actively sharing knowledge and experience to enhance the development of the team

Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.

Education And Experience

  • Undergraduate degree (Business, Mathematics or Economics strongly preferred)
  • Previous Analyst experience in a Business environment
  • Expert Level Proficiency with Access, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Intermediate credit skills (familiarity with writing up deals, spreading financial statements, assessing risk, financial modeling and drawing conclusions)
  • Experience working in Business Banking at Scotiabank would be beneficial
  • Experience with Power BI is an asset

Working Conditions

  • Work in a standard office-based environment; non-standard hours are a common occurrence.
