Technical Architect
Affinity

On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is looking for a Technical Architect to support various IT projects, with a focus on data architecture analysis and system mapping to align current platforms with future asset management needs. The role involves contributing to multiple initiatives, performing deliverables as required, and potentially supporting additional projects during the contract term. The initial engagement is expected to run 12–24 months at approximately 15–20 hours per week, with possible extensions based on project approvals.
Responsibilities:
Education:
• A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline. Coursework in database management, data architecture, systems analysis, and computer programming are highly beneficial.
• Preference will be given to candidates who hold the following certification: Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP)
Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years hands on experience in areas like database administration, data engineering, and programming.
Skills and Expertise:
Technical Skills:
• The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of data management principles and a wide range of technical proficiencies. Key technical skills include:
• Data Modeling and Design: The ability to design and implement data models that represent the structure and relationships of data. This includes conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
• Database Management: Expertise in relational and non-relational databases – MS SQL, Oracle, MS Access
• Data Warehousing and ETL: Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes. This includes proficiency with ETL tools and technologies.
• Cloud Computing: Experience with major cloud platforms like Microsoft Azure for building and managing data architectures.
• Programming Languages: Familiarity with programming languages commonly used in data management, such as SQL, Python, Java, and Perl.
• Data Governance and Security: A strong understanding of data security, privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA), and the ability to implement and maintain data governance policies.
Soft Skills:
• In addition to technical expertise, the successful candidate will have a strong set of soft skills to collaborate in the District’s environment. These include:
• Communication: The ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including management and senior leadership
• Problem-Solving and Analytical Thinking: Be able to analyze complex data challenges, identify links between problems, and design innovative solutions.
• Leadership: The role will be leading some discussions with other departments and divisions working with a Project Manager
• Collaboration: Working effectively with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and systems analysts to align data strategies with business objectives.
• Business Acumen: A keen understanding of business processes, goals, and strategies to ensure data solutions effectively support the organization's needs.
