What can you expect from this position?

Reporting to the Executive Director, Stakeholder Relations and Community Impact (SR&C), the Director, Community Engagement and Impact plays a pivotal role in delivering measurable community and workforce impact and engagement, and advising multiple stakeholders, including elected officials, the Board of Directors, President and CEO, members of the Executive and Leadership teams on the organization’s strategic plan.

You will act as the primary point of contact between local communities and Toronto Pearson by engaging with communities as a consistent feedback mechanism within the community allowing the public to raise concerns related to public impacts, and to tap into community benefits associated with residing near the airport. You will lead long-term strategic development and execution on a range of programs including airport-wide workforce development, community investment, corporate citizenship, and public consultation, and you will develop and deliver programs that engage the community to support Toronto Pearson’s capital program, with a focus leveraging community investments, local procurement, workforce development, and outreach to realize local benefits and positive community economic and social impacts.

Who are we looking for?

You are passionate about community development, community investment, public consultation and/or resident engagement work and have extensive experience leading complex projects from inception through to implementation while balancing political, community and other stakeholder interests.

You are highly skilled at providing strategic advice and communicating with leadership and political staff on sensitive and confidential issues including familiarity with federal regulation, governance policies, issues, all relevant federal legislation. You are a strong communicator who is comfortable leading public consultation strategies for large-scale, region-encompassing initiatives. You are a relationship builder and astute at navigating internal and external organizations. You are a leader of change with a solid business acumen to help navigate complex and challenging matters and can inspire and motivate others to act with urgency and efficiency.

This is the role for you, if you have:


  • Post-secondary degree or a combination of education and relevant experience in Communication, Public Affairs, Community Relations or Public Consultation
  • 10+ years of demonstrated experience working in a customer-centric, fast-paced environment, with particular emphasis on Community Engagement and Impact Experience
  • Experience with supporting the design and implementation of community benefits programs
  • Experience in business or public administration
  • Experience in the development of campaigns and communications for community engagement
  • 7+ years of people management or leadership experience, building high performing, highly skilled and motivated teams
  • Must be able to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.
  • Valid Ontario G Driver’s License
