Apprentice Mechanic - Yellowknife

Transdev is now hiring an Apprentice Mechanic (Heavy Equipment Technician OR Truck and Transport Technician) for our Yellowknife, NWT location!

We are seeking a full-time apprentice mechanic. We are offering a competitive hourly rate up to $38.94/hr (3rd or 4th year Apprentices accepted)

Your Role

• Actively participate in the maintenance and repair activities of various vehicles within the transportation fleet.
• Diagnose and accurately perform all phases of vehicle and equipment service and repair under supervision of Journeyman. Repairs include brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches and other repairs.
• Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately. Maintain records of all maintenance work completed including parts and supplies used.
• Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment and corrective action taken.
• Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval where required.
• Adhere to Transdev's standards, policies, and procedures.
• Move vehicles safely between job and work area.
• Perform other responsibilities as requested or required.

Your Profile

• 3rd or 4th Year Apprentice: Heavy Equipment Technician OR Truck and Transport mechanic.
• You have a Class 5 (NWT) Drivers License.
• You have an appropriate mechanic’s tool set.
• You have advanced problem-solving ability.
• You have advanced computer skills.
• You are able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• You are able to work assigned shifts.
  
  

Your Location:

• This is a full-time position based in Yellowknife.
• The work schedule consists of 40 hours per week.
• Standard work schedule is Monday through Friday OR Tuesday to Saturday
