Summary
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Team Lead is responsible for providing support and assistance with all aspects of financial accounting of the assigned business unit. The Accounting Team Lead will ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded, compliance with regulations, and effective team management. This role involves supervising staff, streamlining processes, and collaborating with other departments to support the organization’s financial goals.

This role is conducted in an office environment requiring some or all the following:
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Team Lead is responsible for providing support and assistance with all aspects of financial accounting of the assigned business unit. The Accounting Team Lead will ensure financial transactions are accurately recorded, compliance with regulations, and effective team management. This role involves supervising staff, streamlining processes, and collaborating with other departments to support the organization’s financial goals.
Direct Reports
- Accounting personnel
- Oversees the daily functions of accounting operations, including accounts payable and receivable, in a multi-currency environment
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations and reporting requirements
- Monitor and resolve batch posting issues in the applicable ERP
- Reconciles financial accounts, including analyzing financial data
- Prepare general ledger entries, complete state sales tax and GST analysis and remittances
- Monitor accounts receivable and collections, maintain Fixed Assets Register
- Prepare monthly depreciation schedule and entries
- Complete monthly inventory reconciliations & analysis
- Monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and stakeholders to provide a clear overview of the organization’s financial status
- Prepare monthly statements for bank reporting and borrowing base calculations
- Monitor Company’s compliance with bank covenant requirements
- Complete month-end consolidations and variance analysis
- Assist in budget preparation and variance analysis
- Liaise with external auditors during financial audits
- Monitor changes in accounting regulations and implement necessary adjustments
- Supervise and mentor the accounting staff, providing training and support
- Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate professional development opportunities
- Undertakes special projects and conducts analysis as requested by senior management
- Performs other duties outside their scope of work as assigned and required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in a similar supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance
- Proficiency in financial software and systems (e.g., ERP systems, Excel)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Able to demonstrate logical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Able to exercise sound judgment, is self-motivated, with the ability to prioritize key requirements in a fast-paced and demanding environment
- Must be able to read, write and speak/understand English fluently

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or workstation
- Repetitive hand and arm movements
- Occasional lifting up to 20lbs may be required
- Frequent reaching, grasping, pushing or pulling, bending or twisting motions
- Walking short distances and standing for meetings or other office activities
