Hardware Designer – Technical Specialist

We are currently seeking a qualified Hardware Designer – Technical Specialist. The role involves developing advanced hardware and application designs for train control and communication systems, leveraging expertise in signaling technologies and CAD tools to deliver efficient, high-quality engineering solutions.

Location: Toronto, ON

Job Type: Hybrid (2 days on-site)

Responsibilities

• Design and document hardware/application solutions using CAD tools (Microstation, AutoCAD).
• Interpret and write technical requirements and specifications.
• Solve design challenges using logical reasoning and engineering best practices.
• Reuse and adapt existing designs where possible to maximize efficiency.
• Lead small teams (1–5 designers) as needed and manage task schedules and budgets.
• Review deliverables to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely completion.
• Collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to process improvements.
  
  

Basic Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 6–10 years of relevant experience in system or hardware design.
• Proficient with CAD tools (Microstation, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.
• Experience with SAP, ClearQuest, BoMs, and configuration management.
• Familiarity with SelTrac systems and QMS processes is an asset.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and documentation skills.
