The Director of Product Management is responsible for driving the strategic alignment of HPS’s product portfolio with global market needs, trends, and customer expectations. This leadership role oversees product lifecycle management, pricing strategy, market education, and competitive analysis across key markets and channels.
This role maintains strong connections with internal teams and external stakeholders to stay informed on operational capabilities, market dynamics, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and other cross-functional partners, the Director develops and executes product strategies that enhance customer engagement, strengthen brand equity, and drive sustainable growth and profitability on a global scale.
Specific Responsibilities
New Product Development
This role maintains strong connections with internal teams and external stakeholders to stay informed on operational capabilities, market dynamics, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies. Working closely with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and other cross-functional partners, the Director develops and executes product strategies that enhance customer engagement, strengthen brand equity, and drive sustainable growth and profitability on a global scale.
Specific Responsibilities
New Product Development
- Translates market segment and application needs into successful product offerings by:
- Leading Product Category Teams to generate, evaluate, and prioritize new product concepts. And ensure seamless collaboration throughout the development Milestone Process.
- Analyzing market research to identify trends, assess market potential, and uncover strategic opportunities.
- Developing and managing the product roadmap to ensure alignment with company goals and validated market needs.
- Developing business cases outlining the value proposition, market requirements, target market, financial projections, and risk assessment for new products.
- Defines product strategy, develops value propositions, and key differentiators.
- Manages product data including pricing, part numbers, and configuration logic.
- Owns the commercial performance of the product line and drives actions to meet business goals.
- Partners with Sales to develop and execute go-to-market plans.
- Analyzes product data and market trends to guide decisions and improve portfolio health.
- Leads competitive analysis and coordinates cross-functional responses.
- Develops and executes launch plans with clear milestones and responsibilities.
- Develops clear and compelling product positioning and messaging that effectively communicates the value proposition to customers.
- Ensures product information is accurately set up across digital platforms.
- Supports Sales and Marketing through pre- and post-launch activities.
- Delivers training and sales tools to enable effective product promotion.
- Conducts post-launch reviews to assess performance and identify improvements.
- Gathers customer feedback and market insights to guide continuous improvement.
- Oversees product documentation and lifecycle planning, including phase-out strategies.
- Define pricing approaches that align with product value, market positioning, and business objectives.
- Analyze competitor pricing, customer expectations, and market dynamics to inform pricing decisions.
- Work with Finance, Sales, and Marketing to ensure pricing supports revenue and margin goals.
- Oversee creation and maintenance of price matrix and product configurations.
- Ensure pricing is integrated into go-to-market plans and communicated clearly to internal teams.
- Track pricing impact on profitability and adjust strategies as needed.
- Lead and Develop the Product Management Team:
- Set team objectives and define success metrics.
- Develop team capabilities in alignment with marketing goals.
- Continuously improve team processes and tools for efficiency.
- Ensure strong alignment with Marketing and other key functions.
- Drive positive work environment and team engagement in line with company values.
- 5+ years of experience working in the Electrical Industry; minimum of 3+ within electrical Industry markets, transformers, and related magnetic products.
- 3+ years demonstrated experience in using qualitative and quantitative market research data with the ability to align the research and methodology with project requirements.
- 3+ years working as a product manager, with business-to-business market segmentation; experience and familiarity with developing new segmentation models.
- Solid knowledge of product management fundamentals
- Experience in conducting voice of customer interviews.
- Customer-centric focus with a proven track record of building lasting relationships.
- Strong coordination and deadline-oriented skills, adaptable in leading or contributing to multiple projects concurrently.
- Proficient in translating market research into clear strategies for targeted segments.
- Expertise in navigating compliance and regulatory changes, understanding their impact on market preferences and product offerings.
- Ability to discern market drivers and indicators, coupled with intellectual curiosity and a data-centric approach to challenge and enhance critical thinking.
- Operationally driven, always seeking improvement, and comfortable presenting to diverse audiences, including C-level.
- Skilled in requirements development through customer interaction, competitive benchmarking, and market analysis.
- Effective collaborator across functions and levels, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, ERP, analytic tools, and sound product management fundamentals.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
