The Merchandiser is responsible for the profitability of assigned segments, TireLink and Alliance by TireLink (car dealerships). This role ensures that forecasting, supply management, and margin optimization are effectively addressed as high-priority missions. The Merchandiser is a pillar between sales, marketing and supply and he/she makes sure that the products we offer reach as much customers as possible while being profitable for the company.

Responsibilities

  • Develop product mix strategies to maximize sales and dollar margins for the luxury car dealership channels
  • Select products in accordance with the category and brand strategies of the different banners (channels) of Groupe Touchette’s model by respecting strategic alliances and by promoting the development of controlled brands.
  • Negotiate with suppliers based on customer/consumer needs in order to conclude advantageous agreements.
  • Set sales prices (suggested detail) in accordance with the company’s overall strategy as well as strategies specific to each banner.
  • Participate in the development of various banners’ sales budgets, margins and inventory.
  • Select the products to be promoted and monitor surpluses, if any.
  • Analyze (on a daily basis) the many categories' performances in order to determine the action plans.
  • Constantly analyze the categories trend and prepare for the rapid and efficient introduction of new products.
  • Participate in the development of supplier revenue budgets (COOP) and ensure their monitoring.
  • Negotiate the best purchasing agreements with suppliers while seeking the best sales, value, quality and profitability potential, all of this while keeping in mind the context of the organization’s culture and strategies.
  • Maintain good relationships with the manufacturers, suppliers and customers.

Success factors

  • Industry Experience: Experience in the tire industry, category management, or merchandising is highly valued. Candidates from other industries should have held a Category Manager or similar role, ideally within the automotive sector.
  • Technical & Analytical Skills: Strong analytical mindset with solid knowledge of Microsoft 365, especially Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Power BI and SAP is considered an asset, but not mandatory.
  • Education: High school diploma or bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: This is a unique role that touches many departments. Success requires the ability to work closely with various teams across the organization.
  • Personality Fit: Must be team-oriented, outgoing, and confident in engaging with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Business acumen: You understand the importance of attracting and retaining customers by providing unique and exclusive solutions by maintaining excellent business relationships. Your strategic thinking allows you to capture business opportunities that are interesting for the company’s growth and helps you with your global vision of all the sales process aspects, from inventory to retail.
