The City of Medicine Hat is looking for a Cultural Programming Assistant to help bring our vibrant cultural programming to life. Your Key Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, delivering, and promoting a variety of public programs, workshops, and events, with a focus on arts, culture, and heritage initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth and successful event execution.
- Lead and facilitate activities for event participants, contributing to a fun, engaging atmosphere.
- Support program setup, takedown, and clean-up, ensuring all events run smoothly.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of all participants.
- Collect and analyze feedback from attendees to continuously improve programming.
- Assist with preparing materials and resources for events and other cultural activities.
- A proactive, resourceful approach to managing tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with diverse groups, from children to adults.
- Experience facilitating and leading programs or events, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities.
- Enthusiasm for working hands-on in event preparation, including lifting and handling event decor or exhibition sets.
- A positive attitude, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- A two (2) year diploma in Recreation, Education, Arts, Tourism, Event Management, or a related field.
- Experience in art and culture programming or community events is a strong asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Standard First Aid and Level "C" CPR Certificate.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with graphic design tools like Canva is an asset.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
