About This Position

  • We are searching for a permanent Human Resources Business Partner to join our Human Resources team.
  • The starting salary will be determined based on a combination of skills, education, and experience. The salary range is $76,800 to $115,200 per year.

The Human Resources Business Partner provides support to business leaders to help deliver strategies including programs involving labour relations, performance management, absenteeism management, and organizational effectiveness.

Your experience in managing labour relations issues, understanding labour and employment law, HR policies and practices, and administration of the collective agreement are key to success in this role.

This hybrid role currently includes two or three days a week from home and two or three days a week at our Burnaby, BC head office.

Ways This Position Makes An Impact

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will provide managers with coaching, guidance, and facilitate training on a variety of employee and labour relations issues including employee and labour relations issues, HR policies and practices, performance management, attendance management, grievance and dispute resolution, progressive discipline, organizational changes, and administration of the collective agreement.

You would work with managers to review trends to recommend actions to ensure positive organizational changes and continued employee engagement. You would assess employee pain points and work with managers to develop workable solutions.

In this role you would conduct investigations on employee relations matters such as discipline, work performance, attendance management, bullying and harassment, and coordinating appropriate corrective behaviour.

The HRBP would create employee communications and letters pertaining to collective agreement administration.

You would ensure employees adherence and compliance to policies and programs related to Labour Relations strategy, collective agreement, labour codes and recommend changes to policies and programs.

In this role you would support management through the grievance and arbitration process at all stages.

You would track and report metrics related to performance, absenteeism, and other labour relations matters for management and provide recommendations based on the metrics.

Qualifications You Bring To This Role

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business with a major in Human Resources, or equivalent discipline.
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in a Labour Relations capacity, advising managers on all employee relations matters in a unionized environment including performance management, administrative and progressive discipline processes, grievance management, conflict resolution, and terminations.
  • Extensive knowledge of labour relations and related employment legislation and practice

It’s preferred and considered an asset if you have:

  • A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, or equivalent.
