We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our Building Controls team in Ottawa.
The Project Manager will oversee and ensure the successful execution of various projects. Reporting to the Director of Building Controls, they will possess extensive knowledge of project management principles, construction execution, building technologies, and client relationship management.

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Manager to join our Building Controls team in Ottawa.
The Project Manager will oversee and ensure the successful execution of various projects. Reporting to the Director of Building Controls, they will possess extensive knowledge of project management principles, construction execution, building technologies, and client relationship management.
Overview Of Responsibilities
- Actively participate in estimating turnover and pre-construction meetings.
- Ensure the successful completion, profitability, and client retention of assigned project portfolios.
- Set project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the framework of Modern Niagara's policies.
- Oversee and control construction progress by directing on-site project personnel to ensure projects stay on schedule and within budget.
- Collaborate closely with the mechanical and electrical divisions of Modern Niagara or selected subcontractors
- Ensure optimal utilization of labor, materials, and other resources across all projects.
- Manage the financial aspects of contracts to safeguard the company's interests.
- Assist with contract reviews and negotiations, liaising with legal counsel as needed in conjunction with the Management Team.
- Develop, recommend, and implement project plans upon project award.
- Monitor and control progress, costs, and budgets throughout the project lifecycle.
- Oversee monthly forecasting activities.
- Maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors.
- Advise the Management Team on project status and results in a timely manner.
- Resolve disputes between the company and owners or subcontractors.
- Identify and negotiate changes in project scope with the owner.
- Ensure project team members understand and follow Modern Niagara’s operating policies and practices.
- Adhere to Modern Niagara’s safety standards
- Minimum 4-5 years’ experience in the construction industry in a Project Management capacity, specifically on large projects in large commercial or institutional sector.
- Experience working with Building Controls and Integrated Building Technology required
- Knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, materials, negotiation, engineering, estimating, scheduling, finance, billing, accounting, and safety).
- Experience with a variety of project delivery methods, including design build, retrofits, recommissioning etc.
- Financial acumen and experience working with data and analytics.
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance.
