Welcome to Lumentum! We’re all about harnessing cutting-edge tech to create a brighter, more connected future. We are the leaders in optical and photonic products, working at the intersection of innovation and impact. Here’s what we’re up to:
Cloud & Networking
- Powering high-speed data transmission for cloud data centers, AI/ML, enterprise systems, and communication services. Think streaming, gaming, and next-gen tech—we make it happen.
- Innovating with state-of-the-art lasers used in industries like EVs, solar power, display technology, and semiconductors. We’re enabling the future of green tech and advanced manufacturing.
Why You’ll Love This Role
Work with expert optical designers, contributing to industry-leading WSS (Wavelength Selective Switch) products, widely used in fiber optic transmission networks.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Create an automated macro to convert Zemax OpticStudio design files from Sequential Mode to Non-Sequential Mode. Zemax OpticStudio includes tools for doing this conversion, but the built-in tools produce many errors for the complex 3D optical designs used by Lumentum. We have identified what we believe will be a robust method for converting design files, but we need a skilled programmer with good 3D spatial analysis capabilities to implement the method.
- Lab testing of a new MEMS (micro-electro-mechanical systems) mirror array.
- Other tasks related to Optical Design that may arise.
- Preference for 8 or 12 month term.
What We’re Looking For

Skills
- Ability to write and debug complex computer programs.
- Ability to understand and use sensitive lab equipment.
- Ability to learn new concepts, communicate results, and generate new ideas.
Perks You’ll Love

- Cafeteria with subsidized meals and free coffee/tea
- Prayer room
- Games room
