Job Title: Clinical Educator
Location: Nunavut, Canada (Qikiqtani Hospital)
Workplace: Onsite Clinic
The Clinical Educator under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services will act as a clinician, educator, and researcher to support the Qikiqtani Hospital (QGH) in Iqaluit Nunavut, Canada through Bayshore Northern Staffing Division. The incumbent will develop and deliver quality education and services, which is compliant with internal and external professional practice standards. The incumbent effectively outlines, develops, and implements all aspects of clinical activities, service delivery and assists in implementing clinical education objectives outlined by the QGH Director of Clinical Program and Government of Nunavut- Health Chief Nursing Officer [CNO]. The incumbent maintains an outstanding level of quality assurance and cultivates positive relationships internally and externally with key stakeholders in daily clinical education activities and operations.

Duties & Responsibilities
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
- Acts as a resource and assists the clinical nurse education team at the Qikiqtani Hospital and support the Government of Nunavut nursing resource team
- Assign and recruit interim education leads for specific high-priority education (obstetrics, central monitoring program)
- Standardize and operationalize general onboarding to program and area-specific needs beyond checklists.
- Program specific onboarding for Emergency department and inpatient unit
- Establish external partnerships for obstetrics, critical care, pediatrics, and mental health
- Improve overall clinical staff knowledge/skills and abilities by building staff competence and confidence levels which promotes client/patient and staff safety leading to better outcomes in staffing and retention rates.
- Will complete work on an in-territory rotation minimum 4-6 weeks in Nunavut. Continuation of work may be required out of territory and decided upon by the QGH leadership and GN CNO.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Masters in a health-related field is preferred, such as nurse practitioner in primary care however, Masters in progress may be considered if it is in conjunction with other required skills, abilities, and experience.
- Minimum five to seven years of professional/Healthcare experience combined with a minimum of three to five years working as a Community Health Nurse is required.
- Current registration with a Canadian Provincial/Territorial nursing regulatory body (i.e., College of Nurses of Ontario, College and Association of Nurses Association of Northwest Territories & Nunavut, College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta).
- Experience in the development of community-based care and client teaching programs; Knowledge of theoretical frameworks and research application.
- Exceptional clinical skills, ability to work collaboratively, assume leadership responsibilities, and communicate effectively. Demonstrates basic clinical analysis and informatics competencies i.e., device, application, and information communication technology basic skills.
- Ability to travel to remote and northern communities throughout Canada is required for the position and the ability to speak French is an asset but not a must.
