In this role, you will support project operations by monitoring budgets, analyzing costs, preparing financial reports, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the financial success of our projects. What You’ll Get To Do
- Project Financial Management: Work closely with project managers and engineering teams to monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring accurate financial tracking.
- Cost Analysis: Provide cost accounting and analysis support on ongoing projects, evaluate profitability, and identify cost variances.
- Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate financial reports to keep stakeholders informed on project performance.
- Month-End Support: Assist in preparing journal entries, accruals, and cost analysis to support month-end closing activities.
- Budgeting & Forecasting: Collaborate in project budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insights and recommendations for financial planning.
- Compliance & Controls: Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies, and relevant regulations.
- Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA designation or working toward CPA is an asset.
- Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a project-based environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (PivotTables, SUMIF, VLOOKUP, and other intermediate formulas). Experience with SAP ERP software is strongly preferred.
- Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex financial data, identify variances, and recommend solutions.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication to effectively collaborate with internal teams and present financial information.
- Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy and organizational competence in managing multiple projects and deadlines.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial discrepancies.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in Canada. Travel to the U.S. may occasionally be required.
