Kent is looking for a Commissioning Piping Engineer in Sarnia Ontario
KENT Canada is looking for a Piping Commissioning Specialist with strong engineering-office experience to support the fabrication, and commissioning of piping systems. This role will focus on making fabrication-related decisions during the engineering phase, ensuring that systems are designed and fabricated for safe, efficient, and cost-effective commissioning and long-term reliability. The successful candidate will act as the technical link between engineering, fabrication, and commissioning teams.

These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

- Review engineering deliverables (P&IDs, isometrics, 3D models) and provide input to ensure systems are designed for ease of fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
- Make fabrication-related decisions (material selection, weld joints, prefabrication vs. field assembly, spool breakdowns) to optimize constructability, quality, and project schedule.
- Provide engineering support in the preparation of commissioning procedures, test packages, and system handover documentation.
- Coordinate with design engineers, fabrication shops, and site commissioning teams to resolve constructability and commissioning challenges before they occur.
- Review vendor documentation and ensure equipment/piping interfaces are designed with commissioning requirements in mind.
- Maintain accurate engineering and commissioning documentation, including redlines and as-built updates.
- Contribute lessons learned to improve future projects and support continuous improvement in fabrication and commissioning practices.

Communication:
- Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.
Behavior/ Core Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, materials, and fabrication methods.
- Demonstrated ability to make sound technical decisions regarding fabrication and constructability.
- Familiarity with commissioning procedures, test packages, and turnover requirements.
- Proficient with engineering tools such as Navisworks, or similar.
- Strong communication and coordination skills to work across engineering, fabrication, and commissioning teams.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and project excellence.
- EPC/EPCM project execution experience.
- Previous experience with large-scale oil & gas, petrochemical, or power projects.
