City: Dartmouth, NS
Contract type: Full time

Venor is proud to partner with Apex Industries in their Door Openings Solutions Group to hire an Operations Supervisor for their Dartmouth, Nova Scotia location.

This role goes beyond coordination — it’s about true leadership and operational ownership. As Operations Supervisor, you’ll take the lead in driving daily activities, streamlining processes, and fostering a culture built on accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

Apex Industries Inc. is a well-established Canadian corporation, headquartered in Moncton, New Brunswick. For over 50 years, Apex has grown into a diversified company with multiple business units focused on metal manufacturing, product development, and automation. Their work spans across various industries, including aerospace, heavy machining, and fabrication, and provides opening solutions for the construction industry.

The Role

We’re looking for a hands-on leader to oversee our field service teams, production shop, and warehouse. In this key operations role, you’ll be the go-to person who keeps the gears turning—working closely with project managers, technicians, and the operations manager to keep schedules tight, inventory on track, equipment ready, and deliveries on time.

If you come from a background where boots-on-the-ground leadership matters—and you know how to keep teams motivated, organized, and focused—this is your chance to step into a role where your decisions directly impact performance and customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Be Leading:

  • Oversee Daily Operations Across Key Teams: Take full ownership of the day-to-day activities within our warehouse, production shop, and field service operations. You’ll ensure each team is aligned, equipped, and delivering at a high standard—on time and on budget.
  • Schedule & Dispatch Field Technicians: Coordinate and manage schedules for our service and installation crews, ensuring the right people are in the right place at the right time. Your planning will directly support project timelines and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage Inventory to Keep Projects Moving: Monitor and maintain inventory levels to meet demand without delay. You’ll work closely with internal teams to ensure materials, parts, and supplies are always available when and where they’re needed.
  • Champion Safety & Compliance: Lead by example when it comes to safety. Ensure all work is performed in compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, or recurring issues—and take action. Whether it’s refining workflows, adjusting processes, or improving communication, you’ll be empowered to make things better every day.
  • Train & Develop the Team: Support the growth and success of new and existing team members through hands-on training, mentorship, and performance feedback. Build a strong, capable, and safety-minded workforce.
  • Maintain Our Fleet & Field Equipment: Oversee the maintenance and readiness of company vehicles, tools, and jobsite equipment—making sure everything is safe, compliant, and ready to go when crews hit the road.
  • Ensure Accurate & Compliant Documentation: Keep detailed records for all inventory movement, regulated products, fleet maintenance, and compliance-related activities. Your diligence will help ensure we stay audit-ready and customer-trustworthy.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a confident, high-impact leader who knows how to manage and motivate teams in a fast-paced, hands-on environment—ideally in construction, trades, or industrial operations. You’re someone who leads by example, holds your team accountable, and earns respect through consistency, clear communication, and results. You bring two years of leadership experience—whether in a warehouse, production shop, field service environment, or on a construction jobsite.

Resilience, adaptability, and emotional intelligence aren’t just nice to have — they’re essential in this role. You’ll be leading in a dynamic environment where priorities can shift quickly, and no two days look the same. Your ability to coach and motivate a diverse team, stay calm under pressure, and keep operations running smoothly will set you apart.

Experience with Overhead Doors, Loading Docks, and High Speed Roll-up doors is a strong asset — but not a requirement. If you bring the right attitude and a drive to lead and learn, we’re ready to support your growth and success.

What You’ll Bring to the Table:

  • A valid driver’s license (required)
  • Forklift certification (preferred, but not a deal-breaker)
  • Solid understanding of warehouse, logistics, and transportation workflows
  • Strong grasp of workplace safety standards, including WHMIS and other compliance protocols
  • Clear, confident communication and the ability to give direction and feedback effectively
  • A solutions-first mindset and the organizational skills to manage shifting demands
  • A proactive, hands-on leadership style and a strong sense of ownership

If you’re a strong leader who thrives in fast-moving environments and takes pride in helping teams perform at their best, we want to hear from you. Contact Erika Hildebrand via [email protected] or Rose MacAuley via [email protected].

We embrace a culture of belonging in the workplace. No matter who you are, where you’re from, how you think, what you believe in, or who you love, we welcome your application. We all come from different backgrounds and different walks of life, bringing in unique perspectives and experiences. We encourage applications from 2SLGBTQ+, Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour (BIPOC), women, newcomers to Canada, and people with disabilities.
