What is the Opportunity?
It is the responsibility of the Asphalt Screed Operator to be proficient and skilled in the operation of various types of manual and automatic paving screeds. The Screed Operator must have knowledge to setup, tear down, and maintain the equipment. Experience is required in all asphalt mix designs and applications including highways, interchanges, county roadways, and municipal/residential applications. Working knowledge of safety polices in accordance with OHS and able to conduct job specific hazard assessments.

What is the Opportunity?

What You'll Do Here
- Comply with Personal Protective Equipment policy.
- Ensure a quality finished uniform surface.
- Estimating overall quantity for the project.
- Verify depths of compacted asphalt.
- Maintain production limits.
- Daily Maintenance and Pre-trip inspections.
- Care and maintenance of company property.
- Maintain safe working habits/environment.
- Required to work overtime and weekends if necessary.
- Participate in Joint Health and Safety Committees.
- Participate in Aecon Safety Tool Box Meetings.
- Ensure accidents/incidents are reported.
- Participate in Hazard Assessments and ensure workplace hazards are identified and effective mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Co-ordinate activities with the Supervisor and paving operation.
- Perform their tasks productively and safely, Drug and Alcohol free.
- Maintain a daily activity diary.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
- Minimum 3+ years’ experience.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean abstract.
- The ability to work with limited supervision; must be a self-starter.
- Ability to lift 40+ pounds.
- Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Working knowledge of the Regulations for Industrial Establishments.
- Working knowledge of other Regulations, e.g. WHMIS, Designated Substances, Smoking in the Workplace, etc.
- The ability to work in various climate conditions.
- The ability to work away from home for extended periods.
- The ability to work overtime as required.
- The ability to work weekends as required.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic understanding of equipment operations.
