Sobeys has an immediate opening for a Brand Manager for Own Brands. This Pivotal role will focus on developing and executing Own Brand strategies for assigned categories, managing the development, maintenance of Own Brand Programs and leading the Brand specialists in the development of objectives.

Here’s Where You’ll Be Focusing

  • Align with Category Management to develop and execute long term strategic plans with the goal of increasing Own Brand customer penetration and achieving KPI’s
  • Drive top line sales growth and end to end margin on new and existing products in collaboration with CM, Finance and Marketing.
  • Interpret trends, seek out innovation and analyze data to support strategic objectives
  • Monitor penny profit in comparison to national brand, ensuring retail gap rules are in place, develop and drive action plans to course correct
  • Work cross functionally with Product Developers, Regulatory Managers, QA Specialists, Design, Operations and Marketing to deliver products from concept to shelf.
  • Create brand equity by adhering to brand standards for product, packaging and design
  • Manage the sourcing and costing of Own Brand products including procurement of new suppliers, negotiation of new and existing portfolio costs, and supplier compliance with Sobeys Inc strategies and policies. Cost outcomes must satisfy required retails and penny profit thresholds.
  • Monitor commodity trends, currency and logistics fluctuations in collaboration with the national strategic sourcing team to ensure best costing is obtained
  • Execute national supplier agreements, manage cost reduction initiatives and monitor performance of Own Brands to optimize total costs
  • Maintain integrity of database files as primary data manager

What You Have To Offer

  • An Undergraduate Degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Previous Project Management or Category Management experience preferred
  • Strong retail product knowledge and proficiency in Excel, Tableau and SAP
  • Experience in a Canadian retail company
  • Background in replenishment
  • Strong communication skills and organizational skills
