The R&D Data Products and Platforms Team is a key team within R&D Digital, focused on developing and delivering Data and AI products for R&D use cases. This team plays a critical role in pursuing broader democratization of data across R&D and providing the foundation to scale AI/ML, advanced analytics, and operational analytics capabilities.

Position Summary

As a Bioinformatician, you will design, optimize, and maintain production-scale pipelines for large-scale Omics data. This role bridges computational expertise with scientific collaboration to accelerate discovery.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize bioinformatics workflows using Nextflow, CWL, and/or Snakemake.
  • Write robust, reproducible code in Python, R, Bash, and Groovy for data processing and analysis.
  • Collaborate with scientific staff to translate experimental requirements into computational solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and debug workflows across HPC clusters and cloud environments (AWS HealthOmics).
  • Optimize compute and storage utilization for large-scale genomics, transcriptomics, and other Omics datasets.
  • Ensure reproducibility, scalability, and performance of pipelines in a regulated research environment.



About You

Key Functional Requirements & Qualifications:

  • MSc in bioinformatics, computer science, life sciences, or similar field; PhD strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in bioinformatics roles, demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility and complexity
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Background in Pharma R&D strongly preferred.

Key Technical Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Nextflow (or similar workflow languages) and scripting/programming in Python, R, Bash, and Groovy.
  • Experience with Omics data formats (FASTQ, BAM/CRAM, etc.) and relevant analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with HPC schedulers (SLURM, SGE) and/or cloud-based workflow execution (Managed airflow).
  • Strong debugging and performance tuning skills in compute- and storage-intensive workflows.
  • Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally with scientists, engineers, and data teams.
