Job Summary

We are seeking a technically skilled and experienced Workday Technical Workstream Project Manager to lead the technical delivery of our Workday implementation, including integrations, data migration, reporting, and security. This role is critical to ensure the successful deployment of Workday Finance, HCM, and Payroll modules, with a focus on technical execution, system architecture alignment, and cross-platform integration.

You will work closely with IT, enterprise architecture, cybersecurity, and vendor teams to ensure the solution is scalable, secure, and aligned with organizational standards. This role requires strong project management capabilities, technical acumen, and the ability to manage complex interdependencies across systems and stakeholders.

Job Responsibilities

Technical Project Leadership:

  • Lead the technical workstream of the Workday implementation, including integrations, data conversion, reporting, and security configuration.
  • Develop and manage detailed technical project plans, ensuring alignment with overall program timelines and milestones.
  • Oversee the design, development, and testing of Workday integrations with internal and third-party systems (e.g., payroll providers, benefits platforms, financial systems).
  • Coordinate data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) activities, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy standards.
  • Support the planning and execution of testing cycles, including unit, integration, end-to-end, user acceptance (UAT), and regression testing, ensuring all technical components meet quality standards and business requirements.
  • Manage Workday environments (sandbox, implementation tenant, production), coordinating environment refreshes, configuration migrations, and ensuring readiness for testing and deployment activities.
  • Facilitate the definition and mapping of Workday security roles and permissions in collaboration with cybersecurity and HR/Finance stakeholders.
  • Ensure technical deliverables meet enterprise architecture, privacy, and cybersecurity requirements.

Project Management & Execution

  • Scope, plan, and deliver technical outcomes using tools such as JIRA, Smartsheets, or Monday.com.
  • Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and issues, escalating as needed to ensure timely resolution.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including integration specs, data mapping, and test plans.
  • Collaborate with functional workstream leads to ensure seamless coordination between business and technical activities.
  • Provide input/guidance/feedback on the execution of project tasks assigned to project team members, including task prioritization and resource conflicts.
  • Regularly report project progress to steering committees, senior executives, project stakeholders and sponsors.

Stakeholder & Vendor Engagement

  • Act as the primary point of contact for technical vendors, including Workday implementation partners and integration consultants.
  • Facilitate technical design sessions, architecture reviews, and data governance discussions.
  • Provide regular updates to project leadership, IT governance, and executive sponsors on technical progress and risks.
  • Support change management efforts by ensuring technical readiness for go-live and post-implementation support.

Cross-Program Collaboration

  • Align technical workstream activities with other enterprise initiatives, ensuring integration and data consistency across platforms.
  • Participate in enterprise architecture and data governance forums to ensure alignment with organizational standards.
  • Coordinate with cybersecurity, privacy, and compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory and internal policies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification preferred.
  • Workday Pro certification in Integration, Reporting, or Security is an asset.

Skills & Experience

  • 5–8 years of experience managing technical workstreams in large-scale ($1M+) enterprise system implementations.
  • Prior experience leading a Workday implementation within an Enterprise environment.
  • 2+ years of experience with Workday technical components, including integrations (EIB, Studio, Core Connectors), calculated fields, and custom reports.
  • Strong understanding of Workday security (including role-based access controls), data architecture, and reporting frameworks.
  • Experience with data migration, ETL tools, and integration platforms (e.g., Dell Boomi, MuleSoft).
  • Skilled in developing and executing test plans, managing defect triage, and ensuring resolution in collaboration with QA and functional teams. Familiarity with privacy, cybersecurity, and enterprise architecture frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage third-party vendors and technical consultants.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience in healthcare or unionized environments is an asset.
