ADDICTION CRISIS WORKER (25-0000737)

Status: Full Time
Department: Safe Sobering Services
Site: Sister Margaret Smith Centre
Shifts: Days/Nights including Weekends
Rate of Pay: $28.76 - $29.39 per hour

Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, Withdrawal Management Program, the Addiction Crisis Worker (ACW) is responsible for the physical well-being of the clients and environment involved in the withdrawal management program. Key responsibilities include admitting and assessing individuals suffering from substance abuse; safely managing withdrawal and/or safely sobering from substance use and their safe exit after, providing support, service planning and stabilization; performing all routine duties in maintaining a withdrawal management program.
Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) years post-secondary education in a Human Services field (eg. Addictions, social work, psychology) and/or a combination of addictions training and previous working experience in an addictions field.

Skills/Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of addiction issues, crisis management and conflict resolution skills
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills and excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Good interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated awareness and understanding of chemical dependency and familiarity with the recovery process including community resources.

Asset:
  • Experience with computer based data entry is an asset.


CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT
  • This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
