Position Summary

Eagle Builders is looking for someone like you to join our team as a Construction Estimator. In this role, you’ll prepare accurate estimates for multiple design-build projects by gathering data and analyzing key variables. Working within our general contracting department, you'll gain exposure to a range of projects while strengthening your communication, numerical, and organizational skills.

Job Description

  • Responsible for quantity take-ff, pricing of work and material, and closing of tenders
  • Complete estimates for residential multistory buildings, commercial, agricultural, or industrial buildings
  • Obtain specifications and drawings of open tenders
  • Supply necessary sub-trades with required drawings and information on project requirements
  • Review designs and specifications for cost-effectiveness, provide recommendations for alternates where applicable
  • Review project plans and specifications and coordinate with team members to confirm the complete scope
  • Work effectively in estimating take-off software, Excel spreadsheets, and construction estimating software
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Requirements

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Available to work Monday to Friday, occasional Saturday
  • Minimum of 40 hours per week, must be flexible and willing to work overtime
  • Understanding of building systems such as mechanical, electrical, structure, and exterior envelope
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications
  • Attentive to detail, organized, and able to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Proficient in both verbal and written English communication
  • Critical thinker and problem solver
  • Local or willing to relocate to Central Alberta

Assets

  • Familiar with precast concrete
  • Graduate from a recognized construction program or equivalent
