Job Summary

We are seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead and manage quality processes across product design, development, and manufacturing of safety-critical railway signaling systems including Electronic Interlocking (EI), Kavach (ATP System), and Axle Counters. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in quality systems for SIL4 safety products, process compliance, audits, documentation, and supplier quality management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define, implement, and monitor Quality Management Systems (QMS) as per railway signaling standards (e.g., CENELEC, ISO 9001, IRIS).
  • Ensure quality assurance across the entire product lifecycle – from design, prototyping, validation, and testing to manufacturing.
  • Drive compliance with SIL4 safety standards and interface with third-party assessors and certifying bodies.
  • Oversee QA planning and execution for Electronic Interlocking, Kavach, and Axle Counter products.
  • Manage internal and external audits, prepare for RDSO/Independent Safety Assessments.
  • Define inspection and test plans (ITPs) for both hardware and software.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams including design, R&D, production, and field services to drive quality goals.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for traceability, non-conformance (NCRs), and corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Review and ensure quality of supplier materials and assemblies, with incoming inspection protocols.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement robust quality improvement initiatives.

Desired Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of railway signalling systems and safety-critical products.
  • Experience in SIL2/SIL4 product development environments.
  • Understanding of IEC 61508, EN 50126/8/9, ISO 26262 or equivalent functional safety standards.
  • Proficiency in QA tools and methods (e.g., FMEA, 5 Why, Fishbone, 8D).
  • Exposure to software validation and hardware verification techniques.
  • Hands-on experience in quality audits, ISO 9001, IRIS certification processes.
  • Good communication, leadership, and reporting skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous work with organizations involved in railway signalling product development (e.g., EI, ATP, Axle Counter, TCMS, CBTC, ERTMS).
  • Experience with Indian Railways standards and RDSO approval processes.
  • Familiarity with Kavach implementation and relevant interoperability protocols.
