The Department of Laboratory Medicine at Oak Valley Health is seeking a full time Pathologist to join our existing team of 7.5 Pathologists providing surgical pathology and cytopathology services. The Pathology laboratory receives a wide variety of specimens, including breast, gastrointestinal, gynecological and genitourinary oncologic resections. There are opportunities for involvement in teaching and creative professional activities, and the successful applicant may be eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of Toronto.

Every year, our laboratory performs approximately 1.3 million tests. We are continually evolving to meet all inpatient and outpatient needs by making use of new analyzers with improved testing methods, automated systems, research, education for our staff, and efficient use of available resources. Our laboratory staff members include pathologists, hematopathologists, microbiologists, biochemists, pathologists’ assistants, medical laboratory technologists, medical laboratory technicians, and administrative staff.

Qualifications/Experience

  • License to practice independently in Ontario from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO);
  • Certification in either anatomical or general pathology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or American Board of Pathology Certified;
  • Experience in independent practice is a plus, though new graduates will also be considered.
  • Fellowship training or subspecialty expertise in breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary pathology and surgical pathology would be considered an asset, although all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • The applicant must also be a strong team player who has exceptional interpersonal and collaborative skills.
