Job Summary

As directed by the Operations Supervisor, this position is responsible for receiving and shipping products to vendors & customers and other responsibilities as established by policies and procedures.

Shift: Sunday to Thursday 10:00pm - 6:30am

Pay: $23.00/hour plus $1.70/hour night shift premium

Section A – Specific Responsibilities

Duties generally include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Coordinates logistics of all inbound and outbound arrivals and departures with carriers and drivers.
  • Ensure all shipping documentation is complete and accurate for both inbound and outbound.
  • Ensure that freight is sorted to the required area within established time frame.
  • Prepare and process shipments efficiently, including documentation such as bills of lading.
  • Sort and group inbound products received in multiple “cases”.
  • Report product damages, quantity discrepancies and errors to the Inventory Control Supervisor.
  • Report less than acceptable product dating to the Inventory Control Supervisor.
  • Complete product assessment documentation as required by established procedures.
  • Communicate with ICC, QSS and Supervisor to ensure that potentially compromised products are removed and placed in a secured quarantine area for assessment.
  • Verify quantity, receive and place each inbound product into defined warehouse locations, both primary pick locations and overstock racks and pallets
  • Place the correct receiving label on each product for placement to defined warehouse locations, using the remote frequency scanning process:
    • Sort to proper put away zones
    • Put merchandise in designated areas
    • Ensure all cold chain products are moved directly to the walk-in fridge for further receiving
  • Transfer cases of products from overstock locations to primary pick locations as directed by the system.
  • Responsible to ensure that all records related to reception of products are accurate, retained and follow Good Documentation Practices.
  • Ensure that FEFO (First Expired First Out) is respected during the put away process.
  • Assure accuracy of customer orders using the remote frequency scanning process.
  • Ensure the correct products and quantity of products are placed into the appropriate shipping containers.
  • Report “shorts” (less than full quantities) in customer orders to supervisors using established procedures.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedure for product packing when using a qualified cold-chain pack out method.
  • Sort totes from the shipping line onto pallets by route and customer.
  • Verify number of pieces on manifest used by drivers.
  • Secure pallets, shrink wrap and line up for loading.
  • Palletize totes by shipping route.
  • Load all pallets by truck/routes.
  • Check to ensure all outbound trucks are clean & in adequate condition for shipment of McKesson products.
  • Refuse to load any truck that doesn’t meet quality requirements for shipping. Eg, obvious pest issues, general lack of cleanliness, obvious signs of disrepair, major deviation from temperature requirements.
  • Ensure shipping doors are closed and secured when not in use to prevent temperature fluctuations and maintain security.
  • Maintain accurate records of shipments and billing information.
  • Analyze transportation data for optimization and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Perform data entry for security sheet and other documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices and Health Canada regulations.
  • Responsible to ensure that all records related to shipping of products are accurate, retained and follow Good Documentation Practices.
  • Load shipping vehicles as required.
  • Perform all tasks within the scope of all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to the job function.
  • Perform cleaning/sanitation duties as required.
  • Other duties as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Ensure that company policies and procedures are respected.

Section B – General Responsibilities

  • Communicate with supervisors to identify problems and opportunities for improvements.
  • Adapt to different shifts and perform assigned tasks effectively.
  • Assure that work areas are kept safe, organized and clean.
  • Follow company policies and procedures, including Health and Safety policies.
  • Operate power lifting equipment in a safe and responsible manner.


Section C – Position Requirements

  • Clear CPIC (Canadian Police Information Center) check.
  • 1-2 years of experience using a forklift, reach truck, order picker, or other power industrial equipment would be an asset.
  • Experience in a distribution center/warehouse/manufacture environment is an asset.
  • Basic math and reading skills and a high standard for attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to be a team player and work in a team environment.
  • Strong focus of Customer Service and commitment to customer satisfaction.
  • Current forklift certification and/or ability to become certified within a 30-day period.
  • Ability to challenge processes and seek out process improvements or creative ways of completing tasks.
  • Must be familiar and able to work with computers and automation.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds solo independently and greater weights in a team-lift environment.
  • Physical requirements include lifting, carrying, bending, stretching, and standing for long periods of time.
  • Reliable and punctual and willing to work various shifts.
  • Exhibit flexibility/adaptability.
