The Opportunity
As an Apparel Designer I, you’ll bring fresh ideas to life with the MEC Label Design team. Guided by MEC’s design ethos, sustainability values, and love for the outdoors, you’ll help turn concepts into gear that’s ready for adventure. You'll be w orking closely with the Director, Product Creation, you’ll be part of the full seasonal design process — from early sketches and material exploration to the moment a product is buy-ready.
Location: This is a hybrid from MEC's Home Office in Vancouver, BC.
As An Apparel Designer, You'll Be
This is a permanent role with an anticipated annual base salary range of $65,000 to $81,000 + bonus. The exact salary will be dependent on the successful candidate’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications and internal equity.

As An Apparel Designer, You'll Be
- Translate product briefs into innovative concepts that deliver value for our members.
- Collaborate with the Raw Materials team to select fabrics and trims that elevate design and performance.
- Share your design vision through mood boards, sketches, renderings, or mock-ups.
- Build detailed techpacks for apparel and trims; working with Product Development team to ensure your designs translate clearly to our factory partners.
- Join fit sessions and product reviews, helping ensure every design meets MEC standards for fit, quality, and performance.
- Update techpacks and support the development team during busy seasons.
- Team up with the design team to prep seasonal trend and inspiration presentations.
- Keep visual line plans up to date, add seasonal colours, and adapt graphics to products.
- Manage timelines and deliverables, supporting the development team during peak periods and stepping in on cross-team projects as needed as collaboration is part of the MEC way.
- 2+ years working experience in apparel design (bonus if it’s in technical or performance categories).
- A degree or diploma in Technical Apparel Design, Apparel Design, or a related field.
- A strong team player who’s all about collaboration and collective success.
- Passionate about the outdoors and curious about how products perform in the environments where MEC members use them.
- Solid in your knowledge of construction, fit, fabrics and trims.
- Confident in the type of performance required for materials in each activity MEC supports.
- Proficient with Adobe Illustrator (bonus points if you’ve used Centric PLM, Vizcom, or CLO 3D).
- Clear and confident when presenting ideas, whether to teammates or cross-functional partners.
- Comfortable with shifting priorities and the pace of seasonal design cycles.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to juggle multiple projects without losing focus.
- Always learning and eager to be part of the bigger picture at MEC.
