Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Exploration-Canada, the Project Exploration Geologist is part of SSR’s Au-Cu exploration programs and collaborates with other departments of the company. You will play an important role in leading geological practices in terms of data management, QA/QC, planning, target generation, logging and sampling, mapping, 3D implicit modelling, interpretations of models, in compliance with SSR’s best practices (including highest HSEC standards).
The Day To Day
This position has a varied schedule. During active drilling and field programs, a 2x2 rotation based out of our remote exploration camps or the Seabee mine site. You will be required to fly in fly out of Saskatoon. During off seasons, a Monday to Friday schedule is in effect.

Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Exploration-Canada, the Project Exploration Geologist is part of SSR’s Au-Cu exploration programs and collaborates with other departments of the company. You will play an important role in leading geological practices in terms of data management, QA/QC, planning, target generation, logging and sampling, mapping, 3D implicit modelling, interpretations of models, in compliance with SSR’s best practices (including highest HSEC standards).
The Day To Day
- Database management – take primary responsibility for GIS and drilling databases, take primary responsibility for QA/QC review of all drilling and assaying data (approximately 30-40% of role)
- Prepare geological maps, drill sections and 3D models utilizing GIS and 3D modeling software
- Supervise exploration drilling programs and technicians.
- Geological mapping and prospecting in the field
- Geological compilations utilizing provincial databases
- Lead the completion and filing of Assessment reports
- Assist with preparation of exploration permits
- Ensure and plan field activities in a safe manner.
- Serve as a leader and mentor junior exploration geologists.
- Log and sample diamond drill core Create, verify and implement procedures for the exploration department.
- Travel extensively when required.
- Bachelor Degree in Geology
- Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in exploration.
- Strong background in database management (familiar with MX Deposit, Acquire or other database software)
- Expert user of GIS software (proficiency in ArcPRO would be considered and asset)
- Proficiency with Leapfrog Geo would be considered an asset
- Competence in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Access)
- Strong ability to effectively communicate both oral and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team
- Experience working in a multicultural environment.
