Hours: This part-time role has 3 shifts per week, totaling 22.5 hours per week: 2 shifts during the week and 1 shift on either Saturday or Sunday.
Job Outline
The Recreation Therapist is responsible for the direct provision of recreation therapy services to patients, as well as assisting in program planning, implementation and evaluation on an on-going basis. This position is responsible for the assessment and implementation of recreation therapy treatment interventions (1:1 or Groups) and/or services for specific patient care programs. The work entails interacting with other interprofessional team members and patients to determine the most appropriate and effective course of treatment for patients in need of recreation therapy and implementing interventions in accordance with the standards of practice for the discipline.

Education & Qualifications
- Completion of a university degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation & Leisure Studies with a Therapeutic Recreation specialization or equivalent
- Must be a member in good standing of Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO), R/TRO preferred or Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association
- Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience working in a healthcare facility preferred
- Experience in developing and facilitating group and 1:1 programs
- Experience working with older adults, persons with cognitive and / or behavioural considerations or complex health conditions.
- Familiarity with community resources and demonstrated ability to work well with community partners
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interprofessional team
- Computer proficiency
- Excellent attendance, punctuality, and work record
- Ability to perform physical requirements of the job
