Job Overview
As a Food & Beverage Associate at the newly opening Hyatt Place Toronto Airport, you will be a key member of our hospitality team, delivering exceptional service across our restaurant, bar, breakfast, and guest dining experiences. You will ensure guests enjoy high-quality food and beverages, a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service that reflects Hyatt’s philosophy of caring for people so they can be their best.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Service
- Greet guests with a friendly, professional, and courteous manner, taking food and beverage orders promptly.
- Provide efficient service of meals, beverages, and breakfast offerings, ensuring consistency in quality and presentation.
- Build rapport with guests through genuine interactions; anticipate needs and respond to requests or concerns promptly.
- Assist guests with seating, replenishment of coffee and beverages, and service recovery gestures as needed.
- Prepare and set up breakfast items, restaurant service stations, and bar areas according to established standards.
- Maintain safe food handling practices, ensuring all items are kept at appropriate temperatures and displayed attractively.
- Clear, clean, and reset tables promptly, maintaining a tidy and sanitary environment throughout service periods.
- Assist with receiving, unpacking, and rotating stock; ensure proper storage of food and beverage items.
- Accurately process guest payments and follow cash/charge handling procedures as required.
- Perform side work, opening and closing duties, and ensure service stations are stocked and clean.
- Collaborate with kitchen, housekeeping, and other departments to deliver seamless guest experiences.
- Share guest feedback and sales opportunities with management to support hotel success.
- Follow all company policies, brand standards, and food safety regulations.
- Maintain compliance with Occupational Health & Safety standards and proper use of PPE.
- Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment issues immediately to management.
- Contribute to a safe and clean environment by removing trash, maintaining cleanliness, and adhering to “Clean as You Go” practices.
- Support special events or banquet functions as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in food service, hospitality, or customer service preferred.
- Smart Serve (alcohol service) and/or Food Handler certification required by local regulations.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain professional in a fast-paced environment.
- Energetic, reliable, and detail-oriented with a strong commitment to teamwork.
- Ability to:
- Stand or walk for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, and handle serving trays, plates, and equipment.
- Work flexible shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
