About the job:

To prepare or modify designs for piping projects, or arranging for, or instructing, others to do this. Designs include drawings, design details, specifications, bills of quantity and design calculations.



Skills and Responsibilities:


Responsibilities:

  • Review piping design drawings, models, and documents for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project standards.
  • Check dimensional accuracy, routing, supports, material specifications, and constructability.
  • Verify that design meets applicable codes (ASME, API, CSA, ISO, etc.), client requirements, and internal standards.
  • Ensure proper integration of piping with equipment, structures, and other disciplines.
  • Identify errors, inconsistencies, or omissions and provide clear feedback to designers.
  • Work closely with piping designers, engineers, and project managers to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Maintain revision control and ensure all corrections are implemented prior to release.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design procedures, checklists, and workflows. Manage the design processes involved in a piping project, including ensuring that drawings are ready on time, reviewing designs and making them available to the appropriate people
  • Establish and maintain effective methods of communication between the teams involved in design work throughout the project
  • Assess, mitigate and manage risks connected with design
  • Establishment’s Environmental Assessment Method) and industry codes of practice


In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.


Your knowledge/skills, education, and experience:


Knowledge/ Qualification/ Training/ Certification:

  • Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or a related discipline.
  • 20+ years of experience in piping design, with at least 5 years in a checker/QA role.


Communication:

  • Excellent command of the English language in both oral and written communication and skills.


Behavior/ Core Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of piping codes, standards, and materials.
  • Proficiency with CAD and 3D modeling software (e.g., Plant 3D, NavisWorks Manage).
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot errors quickly.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills across disciplines.
