Position Purpose Summary

The Christmas Kettle Campaign Coordinator is responsible for creating and implementing the organization and monitoring of Christmas Kettle Campaign activities. They will also ensure adequate staffing is met prior to and during each shift.

Accountabilities

  • Promote, coordinate and oversee kettle locations in Grande Prairie
  • In conjunction with CFS Manager arrange for the delivery and pick-up of kettles to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.
  • Coordinate the schedule for kettle volunteers and respond to emergency absences, etc.
  • Make rounds at kettle locations to ensure kettle is staffed as per policy.
  • Fill in as necessary at kettles to cover breaks or late arrivals, etc.
  • Ensure that kettle locations have adequate supplies of literature etc.
  • Assist in counting kettle income as needed.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, orientation and performance management of kettle volunteers.
  • Foster and maintain positive working relationships with volunteers and businesses hosting kettle locations.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer’s information.
  • Contact churches, schools, businesses and other organizations to fill volunteer spots on kettles.
  • Prepare and send out appropriate Thank You letters to groups and volunteer hours for students.
  • Post campaign prepare an overall report on the campaign to be submitted to the Manager of CFS and retrieve and store all equipment/supplies from various kettle locations.
  • Record statistical data and prepare weekly time sheets as required.
  • Perform other position related duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Internal relationships:
    • CFS Manager, Corps Officer, staff, volunteers
  • External relationships:
    • Community
Managerial/Technical Leadership Responsibility

  • This position reports directly to the Community & Family Services Manager or designate.
  • Responsible as a group work leader, provides direction and checks results.

Financial And Materials Management

  • Responsible for coordination of kettles; delivery and pick-up to/from sites daily, ensuring the security of donations.

Working Conditions

  • This is a temporary full-time position based on 40 hours per week.
  • Kettle Campaign normal hours of operation 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
  • Shifts will include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required
  • Supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule
  • Required to wear appropriate Salvation Army identification.
  • Travel is associated with this position.

Education, Qualifications And Certifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience And Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • Prior kettle experience or equivalent would be a definite asset
  • Experience in office administration, with general office equipment, and strong working skills and experience using MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work well in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful office setting
  • Support for and an understanding of the mission and the purpose of The Salvation Army

Note: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Skills And Capabilities

  • Excellent organizational skills required, must be self-motivated
  • Must provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required. The screening is secured either through the national Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment
  • Must provide an original copy of a current Alberta “Class 5” Driver’s License and current Driver’s Abstract
  • May require screening through The Salvation Army Abuse Registry.
  • Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

This is a fixed term full time position. Target pay range is $20.00 per hour.

Compensation

The target hiring range for this position is $17.33 to $21.66 with a maximum of $25.99.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
