About This Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operator Lead to oversee the daily operations of our two gas processing plants in the Alhambra area near Rocky Mountain House, AB. While reporting to the Sr Plant Foreman, the ideal candidate will play a key role in the preplanning and design reviews, dry and wet commissioning, start-up, and operation of the facility while ensuring all systems are running efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards. This area will continue to be a focal point of Paramount Operations, this Region will continue be an area of growth and development for several years to come.

The successful candidate will reside within 70 kilometers of Leslieville, AB.

Job functions will involve:

  • Plant Operations : Lead the safe and efficient operation of gas processing systems, including separation, compression, refridge, Turbo-Expander, condensate stabilization.
  • Start-Up & Commissioning : Collaborate with the construction team and engineers to ensure successful plant commissioning of future facility expansion.
  • Maintenance Oversight : Work with maintenance Team to schedule and oversee equipment checks, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Safety & Compliance : Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, environmental standards, and regulatory requirements, including ABSA, AER, and Environmental guidelines are met and exceeded.
  • Team Leadership : Supervise and mentor junior operators, providing guidance, training, and performance feedback, including Sr Plant Foreman coverage
  • Monitoring & Reporting : Utilize control systems to monitor plant performance and generate regular operational reports.
  • Continuous Improvement : Identify opportunities for process optimization, cost savings, and increased operational efficiency.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education : High School Diploma required; Power Engineering Certification, or GPO/PFO A-D certification required.
  • Experience :
    • Minimum of 8 years of Operating experience in large gas plant operations.
    • Previous experience in leading a team in a supervisory capacity within a plant setting.
    • Familiarity with gas plant start-up and commissioning is highly desirable.
    • Self-starter and able to work independently with minimal supervision, time management and organizational effectiveness are critical to this position. Flexible and adaptable to changing work environments.
    • Valid Class 5 Drivers license.
    • Must reside in the area or willing to relocate
  • Technical Skills :
    • Strong understanding of gas processing equipment and control systems such as, Delta V & Factory Talk Plant PAX, and SCADA systems.
    • HAZOP reviews including Proficiency in reading P&IDs, schematics, and technical drawings.
    • Good working knowledge of all Microsoft Office programs. Must be able to learn, adhere and work with all Paramount based software programs including Maximo for WO generation, tracking, MOC documentation and all HSE and incident tracking.
    • Will be required to work 8 days on and 6 days off shift (10 hour days). Must be willing to be on call and work overtime when required.
  • Leadership : Proven leadership and communication skills to manage teams and collaborate across departments. Coverage for the Sr Plant Foreman in his absence.
  • Problem Solving : Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities in high-pressure situations. Maintain composure in an active and dynamic work environment.
  • Communication : Must be able to effectively communicate with Team members, ensuring all key stakeholders such as Marketing, Leadership, HSE, Field and Plant Staff, are kept up informed on HSE Concerns, New Production and Production Impacts, and Maintenance Concerns.
