Senior Director, Financial Systems & Process Development (FSPD)

Department Mandate:

The Financial Systems & Process Development (FSPD) team is charged with leading, managing and implementing national financial process improvement initiatives and financial system development programs within Loblaw Companies Limited. This will include recommending and implementing various initiatives related to financial processes, systems, reporting and controls for the Finance team. In fulfilling the role, the incumbent will provide senior management with guidance and leadership in the management and leadership of various projects. The team collaborates with Loblaw Technology & Analytics (LT&A) to drive business and technology innovation. The ability to build a strong and collaborative partnership with the Business is critical.

Role Accountabilities:

As the leader of the FSPD Team, you will be collaborating with various stakeholders to understand their business processes to determine opportunities for improvement using various technologies within the enterprise. You will also rely on an inventive mind and be able to think outside of the box. The ability to communicate and present to various levels within the business and to external partners is of utmost importance. Fostering a spirit of teamwork among the department and across business units is critical to the role.

  • Act as a business partner with senior management across all teams to actively identify process improvement opportunities with the goal of improved business efficiencies
  • Work with project teams and various internal business units towards alignment and standardization of processes and procedures through:
    • Overseeing documentation of business specifications
    • Ongoing communication of progress to senior management, functional groups, and project teams
    • Assisting management in decision making on process / procedure alternatives
  • Develop creative solutions to business /process issues and inefficiencies.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to senior management team and related business units to ensure project and process improvement plans are implemented effectively and efficiently
  • Promote teamwork among department, across functional groups and systems team
  • Provide direction, management and coaching of employees, providing them with challenges, giving them opportunity to gain experience and to be successful
  • Provide ad hoc project support and analysis as required
Role Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience in Finance or Computer Science
  • A profession accounting designation (CPA) is preferred
  • 5-7 years - experience in implementing BI solutions and information governance
  • Experience conducting BI data delivery sessions and business end user training.
  • Strong analytical and facilitation skills
  • Strong Knowledge of SAP
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office, Advanced Excel, MS Access, Python, SQL,)
  • Ability to interact effectively with business and technology Teams
  • Collaborator with strong people skills
  • 5-7 years’ experience managing a large Team (10+) with multiple direct reports
  • Experience in coaching/mentoring with a passion for developing Colleagues
  • Lead colleague performance management through goal setting, feedback, and performance development plans

  • Strong presentation and technical skills
