Dr. Ali Neshati, An Expert In Human-Computer Interaction, Leads The UXID Lab At Ontario Tech University. The Lab’s Research Sits At The Crossroads Of Interaction Design, Information Visualization, And Human–AI Interaction. Students In The Lab Will Have The Opportunity To
– Design and prototype AI-enhanced user interfaces
– Develop intelligent wearable devices and mobile applications
– Conduct empirical studies on human–AI collaboration
– Collaborate on interdisciplinary projects and publish at top international conferences
The lab’s projects are supported by Ontario Tech’s advanced computing resources and strong ties to industry, offering students both academic and practical experience in the fast-evolving field of HCI.
Candidate Profile
The ideal applicants for these MSc and PhD positions will have:
– A strong academic background in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Information Visualization, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields
– Prior Research Experience (preferred)
– Expertise in HCI and/or AI, with familiarity in large language models (LLMs) considered an asset
– Proficiency in coding for mobile devices and smartwatches
– Passion for designing innovative digital experiences and a readiness to tackle complex, interdisciplinary challenges
– Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a drive to contribute to high-impact research
Candidates with demonstrated experience in publishing research, developing interactive systems, or working on AI-enhanced applications are especially encouraged to apply.
