Job Brief:
The Instrumentation Manager reports to the Operations Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing the design, installation, maintenance, and improvement of instrumentation and control systems to ensure efficient and accurate operation in industrial settings. The Instrumentation Manager is responsible for managing teams of technicians, troubleshooting equipment, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations, managing capital projects, and reporting on system performance. They are also responsible for ensuring that the Company’s work products meet clients, engineering, and all other relevant code specifications.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Leading Instrumentation team members by assigning tasks, providing guidance and evaluating performance.
- Design, install, maintain and upgrade instrumentation and control systems to improve reliability and efficiency.
- Manage projects from scope development and cost control to scheduling and execution, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
- Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with Control Tech and Client specifications and contract requirements.
- Interface with clients, cross functional teams, vendors, and other departments to communicate requirements and progress.
- Monitor equipment performance, generate technical reports and analyze key maintenance parameters.
- Assist all team members as required to execute projects safely.
- Various duties assigned by the Control Tech supervision team for project completion are not limited to Instrumentation.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
- Journeyman Instrumentation Certification.
- Leadership and team management.
- Strong knowledge of automation, electrical systems, control systems and software integration.
- Expertise in instrumentation calibration, P&ID, loop sheets, and various communication protocols.
- Proficiency in project management principles to manage timelines, budgets, and resources.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong customer service focus.
- Strong knowledge of code, standards and safety regulation requirements.
- Ability to conduct site inspections, audits, and performance testing.
- Ability to multi-task important projects in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and complete them within scheduled deadlines.
- Ability to work effectively within a team.
- Willingness to continually learn and advance technical knowledge
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles)
- Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech’s standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).
