Eastern Traffic, part of The Municipal Group of Companies, is a large, diversified Construction Company engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction industry within the Atlantic Provinces. Eastern Traffic is currently seeking a Professional Driver based out of Lower Sackville, NS.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and reliable Professional Driver to join our team. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and efficiency of our construction projects across Nova Scotia. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with commercial driving and a strong understanding of traffic control procedures. This position requires flexibility, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work long hours in varying conditions.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently lead equipment, or other vehicles along designated routes, ensuring all traffic laws and regulations are followed.
  • Act as a protection vehicle for traffic control setups, creating a safe buffer zone for crews and equipment. This includes following specific instructions from traffic control personnel and maintaining constant communication.
  • Operate and maintain a 1-ton truck for a variety of tasks.
  • Work in close coordination with traffic control personnel to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow around construction zones.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, provincial regulations, and highway traffic acts. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date Nova Scotia Commercial Vehicle Log Book entries.
  • Ensure safety of fellow employees.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, And Experience

  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Clean driver's abstract.
  • Must have valid and verifiable NS log book training.
  • Proven experience driving on Nova Scotia's 100-series highways.
  • Familiarity with traffic control procedures and the role of a protection vehicle would be an asset
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings and late evenings, as dictated by construction schedules.
  • Ability to travel throughout the province of Nova Scotia (Yarmouth to Cape Breton).
  • Training will be provided to receive accreditation (TCP card) issued by the Provincial Traffic Authority.
  • Working safely and professionally is a condition of employment.
