Reporting to the C ontroller the Assistant Controller will be responsible for a variety of accounting and treasury functions and will support the finance team and the organization by preparing accurate financial reporting to help support and grow the business .
The Assistant
Controller will ensure process are followed , and will work closely with the Accounts Receivables, Accounts Payables and Client operations teams to ensure accurate and timely movement and posting of cash in the accounting system.
This position’s location is in Mississauga, Canada.
Responsibilities
- Understand the sources of revenue and costs and capex activity in the assigned divisions;
- Focus analytics on the cost structure within the divisions to ensure controllable costs are being managed optimally and within budgets
- Understand cash management activities and ensure timely
accurate information is available to senior leaders , including bank reporting and cash forecasting.
- Point of contact for all banking matters, set up of funds transfers and other treasury related inquiries
- Prepare documents and financial information for external and internal stakeholders as required . Bank compliance documents
- Be the finance resource for HR on all payroll issues and ensure accuracy of the GL upload for bi-monthly payroll for the assigned division.
- reconcile intercompany balances and investments and support consolidation process
- supporting year-end audi t
- providing information for tax returns and audits affecting the relevant division
- work with Sales leaders to maintain commission plans, and ensure commissions are calculated and paid accurately
- Support financing of debt and preparing timely covenant reporting
- p rovide support to the Finance team and other internal departments with complex accounting matters.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree with major coursework in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills .
- Data driven person, must be detail oriented with an eye for mistakes
- Good organizational, time management, customer service skills
- Ability to work well as part of a team, but also lead, mentor and grow staff
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Great Excel knowledge is required
