The Civil Construction Manager is responsible for the execution and oversight of all on-site civil works on multi-building, multi-family, residential construction sites. The ideal candidate will have had a rapid succession of advancement in the Heavy Construction Industry.

Your contributions to the team:

  • Manage and direct all site civil inspectors and civil related activities during construction
  • Coordinate and provide feedback to ensure accuracy of tenders and scheduling
  • Review and maintain schedule and production targets and travel to site when required
  • Coordinate with construction superintendents, civil contractors, and site inspectors on sequencing and impacts of onsite works
  • Attend bi-weekly project meetings and monitor site progress reports
  • Consistently collaborate with Director of Civil Construction and project team to meet all safety, production, and scheduled targets/milestones
  • Effectively and accurately communicate relevant project information to the client and project team
  • Reviews and understands the civil contracts, subcontracts, and develops a plan that identifies and mitigates risk, while maximizing opportunities to ensure that all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability levels are met
  • Communicate ideas for improving company processes with a positive and constructive attitude, and for developing this attitude in others
  • Keep the project team informed about project status and issues that may impact client relations, occupancy, trade, or construction delays
  • Review and approve site employee timecards as required
  • Ensure company health and safety protocols are maintained

What you need to be successful:

  • 10+ years in Civil Construction Industry
  • Knowledge of civil construction means and methods, including earthworks, deep and shallow utility work, foundation excavations, piling, erosion & sediment control and compaction
  • Strong understanding of underground servicing including water, storm and sanitary utilities
  • Understanding of construction and legal survey and layout
  • Understanding of methodology and terminology in the civil construction industry
  • Solid attention to detail
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and reasoning
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet established deadlines
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills
  • Proven ability to read civil plans and other construction drawings
  • Understanding of geotechnical considerations with respect to various soil conditions including silt and clay
  • Understanding of cold weather construction methodologies and challenges
