Position Overview:
We’re looking for a hands-on, well-rounded HR Business Partner with a strong generalist background in Canada and technical recruiting expertise to support our growing Vancouver team. This hybrid role will manage day-to-day HR operations while also leading technical hiring initiatives to attract top engineering and product talent.
You’ll be responsible for everything from HR compliance, onboarding, and employee relations to full-cycle recruitment of technical roles, culture-building, and long-term people strategy. Reports to: Director, Human Resources
Key Responsibilities:
HR Generalist Functions
- Serve as the first point of contact for employees and managers on HR-related questions, policies, and procedures
- Manage the full employee lifecycle: onboarding, offboarding, benefits administration, leave management, and HRIS updates
- Support employee relations matters with empathy and professionalism, escalating as needed
- Ensure compliance with BC and Canadian employment legislation, maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Assist in designing and implementing company-wide HR initiatives (e.g., performance reviews, engagement surveys, internal communications)
- Maintain and evolve HR policies, handbooks, and best practices to support a growing workforce
- Coordinate employee events, recognition programs, and culture initiatives
- Analyze HR metrics to identify trends and guide people decisions
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Ops, Finance, IT) to ensure seamless business processes
- Own and execute full-cycle technical recruitment (sourcing, screening, interviewing, offers) for engineering, product, and other technical roles
- Partner with hiring managers to define role requirements, job descriptions, and recruiting strategies
- Source passive and active candidates using various platforms (e.g., LinkedIn, GitHub, Stack Overflow, Ashby)
- Manage candidate pipelines, interview scheduling, and communication to ensure an exceptional candidate experience
- Build and maintain a network of potential future hires through proactive market research and relationship management
- Contribute to employer branding strategies to attract top tech talent
- Stay current on industry trends and competitive intelligence to inform recruitment strategy
- 3–5+ years of progressive experience in Human Resources with strong generalist exposure
- 2+ years of proven experience recruiting for technical roles (e.g., software engineers, product managers, DevOps)
- Strong practical knowledge of Canadian and British Columbia employment laws and HR practices
- Able to work both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, startup or SMB environment
- Skilled in managing HR operations including onboarding, benefits, compliance, and employee relations
- Exceptional communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, self-motivated, and service-oriented
- Familiarity with HR and recruiting tools (e.g., BambooHR, Ashby, ADP, LinkedIn Recruiter)
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or a related field; CPHR designation and/or technical recruiting certifications preferred
