Pre-Construction Project Coordinator Position Overview
The Pre-Construction Project Coordinator will play a key role in supporting the estimating and project management teams during the pre-construction phase. This individual will be responsible for coordinating documentation, managing project information, and assisting with proposals and bids. This role requires a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a strong understanding of commercial construction processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and coordination of project bids, proposals, and tenders
- Review drawings, specifications, and other documents to support accurate project planning
- Liaise with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather required information and ensure timely submissions
- Track project opportunities, bid schedules, and pre-construction deliverables
- Support estimating by compiling take-offs, pricing information, and subcontractor quotes
- Assist project managers in preparing preliminary schedules, budgets, and construction documents
- Maintain organized project files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date
- Contribute to value engineering efforts and cost-saving initiatives during pre-construction
- Participate in internal meetings to provide updates on project status and timelines
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
- 2+ years of experience in construction coordination, estimating support, or project administration (commercial construction experience an asset)
- Strong knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); exposure to construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, or similar) is an asset
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
