Purpose/ Summary

We are seeking a Special Process Operator to join our manufacturing team. This role is critical to preparing, executing, and maintaining specialized production processes such as thermal spray and heat treatment. You'll work with advanced equipment and technical specifications to ensure aerospace components meet the highest quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Prepare parts for thermal spray applications by interpreting engineering drawings, cleaning, masking, and grit blasting.
• Set up and operate six-axis robots for plasma spray systems using technical data and spray schedules.
• Perform thermal coating operations according to customer instructions and specifications.
• Maintain spray equipment, perform minor repairs, and ensure consumable inventory is stocked.
• Load vacuum and atmosphere heat treatment furnaces according to requirements.
• Work to tight tolerances and perform inspections using appropriate tools and techniques.
• Follow and promote workplace safety standards in compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS).
• Identify and report equipment hazards, safety violations, or defects to management.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of thermal spray equipment (plasma, HVOF, flame spray preferred).
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and follow detailed instructions.
• Ability to work collaboratively and meet tight deadlines.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with plasma, HVOF, and/or flame spray applications in an aerospace environment.
• Prior work involving robotic spray systems or high-spec coating processes.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Regularly required to sit and use hands for fine manipulation.
• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Frequently required to reach with arms, speak, and hear.
• Must have close and color vision.
• Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  
  

Work Environment

• Exposure to noise, vibration, moving mechanical parts, and vehicles.
• Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or areas with poor ventilation.
