The Fibre Networks team is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and driven individual with a proven track record to join our New Growth Markets (NGM) team. As a Design Specialist II, you will be working with a number of internal teams including Planning, Project Management, Construction, Marketing as well as our partners. You will play a key role in executing and delivering complex implementation projects. In this role, you will collaborate across business units, and with key stakeholders to execute on initiatives with high complexity and/or business impact. Your expertise will help us drive innovation and continuous improvement in fibre delivery to our customers. You will be accountable for end-to-end project delivery, within a highly collaborative and capable group of team members.

What You'll Do


  • Track and move projects through various milestones.
  • Manage relationships and deliverables for partner vendors and internal stakeholders.
  • Review business escalations and solve for customer services.
  • Analyze data, summarize and track information, and create reports and presentations.
  • Establish new business processes and lead innovations to improve schedule cycle time, budget, reliability and engagement.
  • Oversee external partners' performance on quote, design and build activities.
  • Ensure Issued for Construction (IFC) schedules and deadlines are monitored and adjusted appropriately.
  • Liaise with internal and external customers to determine needs and negotiate issues to resolution.
  • Maintain continued focus on reducing OPEX spending.
  • Participate in regular meetings with partners to review progress, schedule impacts and technical concerns.
  • Respond to and resolve customer complaints and engineering matters.
  • Maintain quality standards for engineering designs.
  • Cultivate internal relationships with project managers, planners, marketing, engineering managers, and construction teams to ensure smooth workflow and strategic alignment with priorities.
  • Consult as an engineering expert regarding engineering design & process, detailed system use, corporate and regulatory policy regarding TELUS infrastructure provisioning.
  • Run and analyze reports to identify gaps and opportunities as well as forecasts.
  • Coordinate concurrent projects and multiple resources to efficiently allow engineering resources to retire workload.
  • Provide a single point of contact for external departments for projects and programs as required.
  • Lead and participate in the development and preparation of financial analysis, studies, reports, and associated presentation material.


Qualifications

What you bring


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent education and/or relevant experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years' work experience managing projects or leading cross-functional teams.
  • Experience managing large-scale projects with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Experience dealing with ambiguous requirements and translating them into concrete project outcomes.
  • Demonstrated leadership, problem solving, negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills - you can translate complex technical topics into easily understood concepts for our stakeholders and team members.
  • Highly motivated, creative and self-sufficient with the ability to work successfully under pressure.
  • Stakeholder management experience including senior executives is an asset.
  • Working knowledge of municipal and civil policies and procedures with a high level of knowledge of accepted engineering standards and practices to provision the network.
  • Experience with PureFibre infrastructure and general engineering processes and regulatory policies currently in use.
  • Detailed engineering knowledge of a suite of design systems and tools including SAP, AutoCAD, SpatialNet with specific experience producing designs based on sound engineering economic analysis and following guidelines established by network standards.
  • Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines and the ability to effectively interact with external customers.
  • A proven track record to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments.
  • Demonstrated effective oral and written communications skills coupled with a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite.
  • Must follow safe work practices and abide by all safety rules & regulations.


Great-to-haves


  • Experience with software such as: JIRA, DOMO, FieldGlass, SAP, SpatialNet, CircuitVision.
  • Knowledge of Outside Plant network estimation.
  • Data analytics to be able to provide insights of business, finance and projects.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental policies & regulations.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), currently or on-track.
