The Regional Director leads and oversees a Technology and Innovation Banking team for an assigned market, ensuring business strategies, market development plans and initiatives are executed. The Origination and Client Management group manages the end-to-end process of structuring, diligence and underwriting for new and existing technology client opportunities. The team maintains a high level of engagement with key stakeholders in the technology ecosystem; building relationships and developing insights.

Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Contributes to the profitable development of the Technology and Innovation Banking portfolio by creating and executing short term business plans to ensure progress is made towards maximizing the potential market opportunity:
- Analyzing the market and competition to develop a sales and marketing strategy to identify and drive high potential segments;
- Enacting market engagement activities to heighten the profile and awareness of the Technology and Innovation Banking practice;
- Establishing, expanding and leveraging relationships with prospects, market contacts and business referral sources to drive desirable deal flow to the practice;
- Acquiring new clients through a proactive and disciplined sales approach, executing a targeted origination and market coverage strategy;
- Establishing and maintaining a high-performance sales culture through regular reviews of performance vs. targets, observational coaching and effective resource management;
- Setting routines to enhance opportunities through cross-selling, joint calling and referrals to Bank partners;
- Ensuring the accurate communication of terms and conditions of an authorization and supervises effective and timely execution.
- Ensures the ongoing quality of the assigned credit portfolio to ensure it is at an acceptable level of risk and generates an appropriate return:
- Ensuring appropriate routines and processes are in place and adhered to which drive portfolio oversight and speed to execution;
- Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of credit presentations with sound recommendations, providing coaching as required;
- Building a strong relationship with Risk Management partners and establishing a collaborative communication and feedback process for credit presentations;
- Adhering to all regulatory and internal Bank policies and requirements as well as oversight of compliance reporting and controls related to credit;
- Directing and assisting direct reports in overseeing the monitoring, reporting and analysis of clients and credit portfolio, including problem accounts;
- Directing and assisting the Manager, Customer Success with delivering a seamless client onboarding experience while adhering to Bank policy regarding AML/KYC and enhanced diligence;
- Advising Senior Management of any credit weakness developing within individual accounts, by ongoing awareness and analysis of relevant financial, legal, political, technological and industry information.
- Overseeing the development and timely delivery of reporting and analysis of the assigned portfolio as well as the ongoing development of tools, processes, guidelines and protocols related to the health of the portfolio.
- Builds a high-performance environment by implementing a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates their team. Fosters an inclusive work environment using a coaching mindset and behaviours, communicating vison / values / business strategy, and, managing succession and development planning for the team
- Bachelor’s degree or Masters degree with ten or more years of applicable commercial or corporate banking experience, including sales and team leadership.
- Strong familiarity with Technology and Innovation landscape, business models and investor ecosystem with an extensive network of relationships;
- Advanced knowledge of structuring credit across venture debt, recurring revenue (SaaS) financing, acquisition financing and other traditional forms of financing;
- Advanced knowledge of credit analysis, with strong understanding of the capital structure of venture backed technology companies;
- In-depth knowledge of portfolio management practices including expertise in evaluating risk and managing changing situations;
- Proven structuring and negotiation skills, closing skills and ability to engage and build trust with clients independently; and
- Strong managerial skills with the ability to steward resources and develop a team of individuals at different stages of their career.
