Iris Dynamics -- Chief Executive Officer

Victoria, B.C.

Iris Dynamics is at a pivotal moment where years of inventive engineering meet a global shift toward smarter, cleaner motion technologies. Based in Victoria, British Columbia, this OEM provider has turned a breakthrough idea - combining driver, encoder, controls, and force sensing inside a single linear-motor housing - into its ORCA family of integrated actuators. By replacing cabinets, cables, and pneumatic cylinders, Iris delivers a fully integrated, backdrivable, force-controlled solution that installs in hours instead of weeks. Its unique motor-drive technology blends compliance, built-in force sensing, and real-time adaptability in a rugged package proven in autonomous systems, factory automation, and advanced test environments.

Industry 4.0, onshoring, rising defense budgets, and growing adoption of autonomous systems and robotics are accelerating adoption. Manufacturers are electrifying equipment, robotics demands embedded intelligence, and industries are moving away from compressed air to energy-efficient electric actuation. Positioned at the intersection of these trends, the company has achieved product-market fit with a strong pipeline of existing and prospective customer trials and is primed to scale into long-term OEM programs - evidence of a move from niche innovator to mainstream supplier. As a result, the founders and board agree it’s time to institutionalize scalable processes and accelerate expansion under a growth-oriented CEO who will build on the company’s vision and momentum to scale it to its full potential.

Reporting to the board, the CEO will own and execute the company’s strategic plan, including the go-to-market playbook that converts early customer enthusiasm into repeatable, high-margin revenue. Priorities include refining the customer journey, scaling production without compromising quality, and reinforcing financial discipline around pricing and capital allocation. The CEO will help shape capital strategy, balancing non-dilutive funding and investor support to fuel growth while preserving flexibility.

The ideal candidate is a proven CEO, President, or General Manager with deep experience in advanced manufacturing, embedded systems, defense, motion control, or industrial automation, ideally with exposure to both software and hardware business models. They understand how to sell technically sophisticated products into OEM environments while building scalable foundations in operations and manufacturing. Doing so successfully will require an ability to define and articulate a clear vision, lead and build a talented team, while staying laser focused on value creation for customers, employees, and shareholders.

This is an incredible opportunity to join and build a pioneering company at the forefront of motion technology for Industry 4.0.

The company is based in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia but is open-minded on commuting arrangements.
