Purpose of the Role:

As the Quality Lab Co-op, you will support the quality control functions of the R&D lab and of the Coating Team by collaborating in the management of inventory, maintaining chemicals and materials, performing quality checks, calibrating equipment, and ensuring general lab upkeep and organization as well as cleaning.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • You are pursuing a science-related discipline.
  • You have previous experience in a lab setting.
  • You have programming experience and interest.
  • You have an understanding and experience of databases.
  • You are familiar with laboratory equipment, calibration procedures, and inventory management practices.

What Success looks like in this role:

  • You will enhance data systems by improving the Coating’s Group database, cleaning and organizing data, and retrieving missing information as needed—with potential to scale to a more advanced build.
  • You will manage inventory of chemicals, substrates, and lab supplies, ensuring accurate documentation, proper storage, and compliance with WHMIS and safety policies.
  • You will maintain equipment through routine calibration and troubleshooting, while keeping detailed logs and coordinating external servicing when required.
  • You will uphold quality standards by conducting regular checks on materials and products, documenting results, and collaborating with the team to resolve discrepancies.
  • You will support lab operations by keeping the workspace clean and safe, handling shipments, and assisting with setup and teardown of equipment.
