We are on a journey of continuous growth – now looking for our next star – a passionate Engineering Manager. This position reports to the Vice President & General Manager and will work onsite in Richmond, BC.
Candidates must be eligible for cross border travel between Canada and the US.
About The Position
As Engineering Manager, you will play a key leadership role in shaping the future of marine power solutions. You will oversee, mentor, and develop a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and customer technical support staff, while driving innovation in electronic product development. Collaborating closely with the VP of Technology and Product Development, as well as the Product Management team, you will plan and manage program resources, budgets, and schedules across local and global initiatives. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with performance and safety standards. Product areas include fixed-mount power converters, lithium-ion battery integration, alternators, digital switching, and both wired and wireless connectivity solutions for boats.

About The Position

Your Main Responsibilities
- Manage the design, test engineering, tech support, and work closely with product management, sourcing, quality, operations, and customers for new product development and continuous product improvements
- Develop and mentor team members with talent management, performance evaluations / management, and succession planning
- Plan, coordinate resources, monitor status, maintain program commitments, report on progress, and ensure delivery and quality applications are on time and within budget
- Design products, assemblies, and components which meet design and regulatory requirements
- Identify market opportunities, research solutions, develop advanced prototypes, secure IPs, and drive technical direction
- Execute product development life cycle (evaluate, concept, develop, industrialize, qualify, produce, review) in accordance with Dometic standards, such as Book of Requirements, Functional Design Specifications, DFMEA etc.
- Oversee by example to facilitate design reviews and to approve new concepts, product design, specifications, verifications, validations, and supplier PPAP submissions
- Advocate best practices and look for continuous improvement opportunities
- Review, approve, and execute design verification and validation plan for new products/designs
- Promote group discussions, collaboration, teamwork, and continuous improvement for team and individuals
- Assist in applications support and troubleshooting as required
- Perform other duties and undertake special projects assigned by supervisor

Skills & Requirements
A suitable background would be a solid experience with product development and project management as well as the following qualifications and experiences:
- Bachelor or Master of Science in Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of experience in product development or manufacturing engineering, preferably of electronics
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory/management experience
- Excellent skills in staff management and mentoring
- Exceptional skills in product development management
- Thorough knowledge and experience with power electronic products and batteries
- Ability to quote and to optimize cost, performance, and meeting internal/external customer requirements
- Familiar in all aspects of mechanical, electronic, and firmware product development
- Strong ability to quickly and accurately estimate size and scope of projects
- Ability to exercise technical mentorship over other product designers
- Ability to map out, plan, and communicate development activities
- Solid skills in multi-functional project management in a manufacturing environment
- Strong sense of urgency, enthusiasm, and a proven history of relentless execution
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate and manage diverse personalities across functions and sites
- High level of emotional intelligence
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
