Job Responsibilities

The Licensed Industrial Electrician supports plant operations by maintaining and repairing electrical systems and equipment. Reporting to the Foreman, the role includes diagnosing breakdowns, replacing components, and installing electrical systems. A strong working knowledge of PLCs, instrumentation, motors, motor controls, relays, and transformers is required. The position supports production teams and requires effective communication, adaptability, and a commitment to safety.

  • Perform electrical maintenance and repairs on plant equipment
  • Install, remove, and replace electrical components and systems
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and complete reports
  • Troubleshoot and repair faulty electrical equipment
  • Read and interpret schematic and construction wire drawings
  • Program, monitor, and troubleshoot PLC systems and control schemes
  • Inspect and repair motor control centres (MCCs), switchgear, and transformers
  • Install and maintain wiring, conduits, cable trays, and instrumentation
  • Identify and resolve issues with motors, AC/DC drives, and relays
  • Lubricate assigned equipment as required
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Report deficiencies and hazards to the Foreman

Qualifications

  • Valid 309A (Construction & Maintenance) and/or 442A (Industrial Electrician) license
  • Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code
  • Proficiency in PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems and industrial controls
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Experience working at heights and in confined spaces
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts
