Purpose of the Role:
As the Sorbent Chemist Co-op, you play a vital role in the synthesis and characterization of CO2 sorbents, mainly porous polymer materials. This role will contribute to research projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide technical support in the field of CO2 sorbent development chemistry.

Purpose of the Role:
As the Sorbent Chemist Co-op, you play a vital role in the synthesis and characterization of CO2 sorbents, mainly porous polymer materials. This role will contribute to research projects, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and provide technical support in the field of CO2 sorbent development chemistry.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- You are a 3rd or 4th year student pursuing a degree in chemistry, material science, chemical engineering, biochemistry or other relevant areas.
- You have 8 months of lab experience in academic or industry’s labs.
- You have experience with 2-3 step small molecule organic synthesis and purification.
- You have experience with characterization techniques like TGA, Sorption gas analyzers, FTIR, SEM, XRD, NMR.
- You have knowledge of NMR interpretations, spectral assignments, XRD analysis, computational software such as ChemDraw, Mercury, GCMC simulation, Ab Initio Calculations or other methods.
- You will comply with health and safety policies; maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment, and participate in Svante's lean culture.
- You will conduct lab work on sorbent (especially organic) development & synthesis for carbon capture application.
- You will conduct basic sorbent characterizations (FTIR, PSD, TGA, …) and analyze the data.
- You will participate in literature searching and reading on CO2 sorbent development
- You will present results in written and oral form by means of technical reports, Word, Excel and PPT.
- You'll be in charge of experimental setup and chemical purchase ordering, SDS and inventory updating.
